C8 might borrow Tremec DCT from GT500

Since there has been no confirmation of what sort of transmission GM will be placing in the C8, there is some new evidence that sheds some light on one of the possible options. There was an employee newsletter that references a gearbox from Tremec that could very well find its way into the new mid engine vet. Ford has already confirmed the Tremec TR-9007 DCT for their GT500 , and its rated up to 664lb-ft of torque. https://www.corvetteblogger.com/2019...tch-gearboxes/

This is the ugly side of the industry where cars from rival brands share the same components. Fortunately tuning profiles can make them feel entirely different.

Tremec makes some of the best transmissions on the market, so I'm okay with this. It's as close as were going to get to a manual gearbox and should allow plenty of room for aftermarket performance upgrades.

The challenging will be adjusting to the C8's setup because we've never seen anything like it from Tremec. Power output tolerances have to be considered as well.

Adapting it to the C8 should be a non issue. The 2020 GT500 is rumored to be coming with a flat plane crank V8 that makes more than 700hp.

Well then I will be looking out for how it performs in the GT500, Ford doesn't want to drop the ball with this one although the GT350 had its fair share.

Worth mentioning that the Tremec gearbox will have to be configured quite differently for each of these cars. Mustang is front engine with a regular transmission while the mid engine vet will have a transaxle.

there's almost no telling as to what will come because the industry on this end is tight lipped to keep rivals at bay
for all we know it might be an evolution of what the Ford gets or a slightly different version internally

They will have to be set up differently, especially if the rumored AWD hybrid variant of the C8 delivers on its 1,000hp output. GM needs to ensure that power can be put down consistently and reliably.

No doubt about that and its exactly what we need, two different flavors of the C8, one traditional and the other track focused to bring what we haven't seen from GM, ever.
