I really have no idea what extra parts are needed in a plug-in hybrid but it does take advantage of regenerative braking.

Regenerative braking and apparently even regenerative suspension now

Does any production car currently have regenerative suspension? This is the first time I've heard of it and I had to do a bit of research about it first.

It's said to be 1/2 as a efficient as claimed and better suited for machines that go over rough roads a lot. Doesn't seem like a corvette would make much use of it.

No.. don't think it would be as useful at all if that's the case. Even so, it would add a good amount of weight as well.

Regenerative suspension can recover apparently a maximum of 10% of fuel efficiency on a very poor road traveling at an equivalent of approximately 50km/h

that 10% may be useful for something like a Wrangler but I assume people who wants a sports car like the corvette knows full well that it's not going to have great fuel economy.

Guaranteed. It's like going into the dealership shopping for a Viper asking for good fuel economy. Not gonna happen.

We're looking for styling and power. That's it.

This time around the Viper will be sitting in a category of its own since the Corvette will be graduating. Going mid-engine this could be a sign its becoming more of Chevy's version of something closer to the GT-R than they ever made before.

How would the Corvette becoming mid-engined equate to it being stationed closer to the GT-R ?

But the Viper is definitely sitting in a different category now. That being said, it did leave with a bang as that ACR was pretty phenomenal.
