2018 Corvette ZR1 Prototype Spied Sporting A Giant Wing

Forum member LugNut has already mentioned the two struts attached to the Stingray muleís rear end and suggested that they could be used to support the large wing sitting inside the car. Well, now we have photographic proof that the Corvette ZR1 could come with a large wing.

The Corvette ZR1 is showing off its massive wing in the latest spy shots and it looks similar to the one found on the Corvette C7 R race car. If it really does share a wing with the C7 R, then maybe the ZR1 will also borrow the race carís rear trunk spoiler. Autoblog thinks that a few more aerodynamic parts may have been added to the front bumper and to the side. Itís a bit grainy but they were able to see what could be side skirts.

With such a large wing, we can only assume downforce and the vehicleís aerodynamics are very important especially with the suggestion that the ZR1 could weigh less than the Z06 and last generationís ZR1.

As for the engine powering this winged beast, we really donít know but the rumor mill has suggested a tuned 700 hp 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 engine or a twin-turbo LT5 V8. With 700hp and a whole lot of downforce, the ZR1 could rival the track cars like the Dodge Viper ACR and Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

Spy photos seems to be streaming in pretty consistently so we could see clearer pictures of the ZR1 Prototype soon.

The wing may be large but it looks like it fits perfectly with the Corvette's rear styling even if the image is grainy. It doesn't look obnoxiously large since it's the same width as the car but it has been suggested that the wing could use active aero technology.

Definitely a possibility, would be pretty cool too ! These are definitely cars that need something like that, especially to help keep that rear end hooked up at higher speeds

The 2015 Koenigsegg One:1 has a pretty great active wing that can change it's angle from from a negative 6-degree bend for less drag all the way up to a 25-degree positive angle. But this would require hydraulics which could add too much weight to the final C8 design.
