A new video has recently leaked which gives us a first look at what the C8R variant sounds like. You can also see it shooting flames as it shifts through gears. It sounds alright, but not what I would expect from a V8.

See a lot of complaints in the comments that it doesn't have the traditional 'Corvette sound'. Do people not realize that transitioning to a mid engine platform would affect the exhaust note? I think its a good thing that it doesnt sound like models of the past.

I agree. You really shouldn't be looking at the C8 expecting more of the same. There are plenty of newer models already on the market that offer that classic exhaust note, but GM should be prioritizing making something original and unique here. If sound was coming from any other car, people would be enamored with it.

I still have hope for some brand like Armytrix to come out with a headers back system to hopefully deliver an exotic sounding exhaust note.

I think it already sounds quite exotic, albeit more similar to what you would expect from a Ferrari. They've definitely moved away from the deeper raw grunt of the C7.R but I think this is a solid evolution.

What i'm after is an exotic sounding V8 that sounds closer to what a Koenigsegg v8 is like. The C7 below sort of has that going on...

A Koenigsegg is a $2 million dollar car. I will admit that this C7 does sound fantastic, but its been highly tuned and modded. You get nothing like this from a stock GS.

Ignore cost of the Koenig, when it come to sound, all it takes is engineering the right headers-back setup. Sometimes it takes working the heads and other air components.

I think it sounds and looks fine as a Ferrari clone, especially if we are getting it at a fraction of the price. If the stock note isn't to your liking there will surely be aftermarket systems to choose between. The C8.R may very well be a track only car.

Care to show us exactly which Ferrari model(s) you're talking about? I'm an avid Ferrari enthusiast with many Ferrari owning friends. Event the cheapest Ferrari money can buy doesn't sound like that Corvette.
