We’re still waiting for Chevrolet to reveal their new mid-engine C8 Corvette and until they do, we’ll have to make do with this glamor shot of the Carbon 65 Edition package that will be offered exclusively with the 2018 Grand Sport and Z06 models.
In celebration of the 65th anniversary of the Chevrolet Corvette, the automaker will be producing just 650 of these carbon fiber accented vehicles though they haven’t released how this number will be split between the two models. For those who are wondering, the first Corvettes rolled off the assembly line in Flint, Michigan on June 30, 1953.
No matter the model, all 65th anniversary Corvettes will be painted Ceramic Matrix Gray and the convertible versions will come with blue tops only. Carbon fiber accents can be found on the rear spoiler, rear ducts, side skirts, and wheel center caps with blue graphics added to the doors and front fenders.
Aside from a new coat of paint, the Carbon 65 Edition features a long list of exterior modifications
including a ground-effects package, hood insert, roof panel on coupes, a spoiler, side intake ducts, blue-painted brake calipers, dark-painted badges and side-mirror caps. Not to be left out, the cabin is equipped with a carbon fiber steering wheel, Carbon 65 door sills, optional Competition Sport bucket seats, glossy carbon trim and black suede with blue stitching.
Car And Driver has published the individual prices of these exterior changes and if you do the math, the $15,000 special-edition package isn’t such a bad deal. For those interested, they will be available this summer.
