2019 Corvette To Roll Down The Assemble Line Next January

Mum’s the word when it comes to the new mid-engine 2019 Corvette and Chevrolet is holding everything close to heart, but we may have the exact production start date for the highly-anticipated vehicle thanks to the Bowling Green Daily News.

Reporting on the General Motors Bowling Green assembly plant’s ongoing retooling process, the plant is expected to resume operations next month on November 6. Production has been put on hold since late July this year as GM needed to install new equipment, update the car build process, and construct an exceedingly expensive paint shop.

Once plant employees are called back, they’ll be busy assembling 2018 Corvettes through the week of January 22, 2018. After that, production of the 2019 model year Corvette should commence on January 29, though this has not been confirmed by Chevrolet.

Much is still up in the air with the mid-engine Corvette’s production date approaching. Chevy may need to debut the C7-based Corvette ZR1 ahead of the eighth-generation vehicle, which doesn’t give the assembly plant much time to build the ZR1 before the mid-engined Corvette arrives.

The Drive also noticed that the 2019 Corvette production start date just happens to start right when the North American International Auto Show ends. Perhaps hinting towards a Detroit debut?

Seeing how production looking test mules have been spotted already maybe this will mean that we will see preproduction models in the flesh well before production kicks off. Its a long time line and to be honest anything can happen from now till then. They just better make sure to hype the C8 enough up before its release.

I don't doubt we'll see the first few production models being used for test drives by journalists, maybe even top gear and they either sit in a showroom somewhere or get scrapped. Then the cutomer corvettes will start officially rolling down the assembly line near the end of January or beginning of February.

With the Chevy Corvette sales decrease recently, they'll definitely advertise the newest model as much as possible. Maybe a superbowl ad even.
