Mid-Engined Chevrolet Corvette Spotted Again

Last we saw of the 2019 mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette test mule, it was taking a refuelling stop of the fast food variety. Now autoblog has released new spy photos of the prototype and they claim it’s wearing less camouflage than before.

Comparing previous spy shots to the latest batch, it seems like nothing much has changed in terms of camouflage. We still see black tarp covering what could be air intake ducts around the door handle area, similar line of pinched metal running from the front fenders to its rear haunches, and the wheels are the same as well. AS it is undergoing cold weather testing, we can assume that those are factory winter tires and they could be provided as an option to northern dwellers.

One feature of note are the new headlights shinning through the black mesh, with a “thin and swept back” look featuring LED accents. Perhaps what we’re seeing are the daytime running lights and the previously seen bulbs with a yellow tint are the low-beam lights. We’re even given a glimpse of the brake lights in action, which looks to be a circular grouping of LEDs.

With the Corvette ZR1’s reveal date approaching and the mid-engined model rumored to debut after, we can expect to see spy photos crop up more frequently as time goes by.

I hope they plan on coming out with higher performing versions to the effect of what we are seeing with Lamborghini's Performante trims. If there's anything we need its a cheaper version of what Lambo is doing.

We can't really be sure that what we're seeing isn't something else like a Cadillac as other rumors suggests. Personally can't imagine it as anything other than a corvette based on the body shape because Cadillac just makes me think of bulky yachts on wheels.

Yeah there's no way that's a Cadillac, although there are some rumours that they are going to blow everyone away with an upcoming concept they are revealing. Don't know how you can compare a Corvette to a Lamborghini. They don't exactly sit in similar price brackets. The new ZR1 vet hits 60mph in 2.8 seconds. That's not fast enough for you?
