If it does cost $170k- here are its rivals

With rumors going around that the top spec model could go as high as $170k, I wanted to showcase what the competition is in this price bracket. Important to note that it will have substantially more power than all of these rivals at 1,000hp.

Acura NSX | 573HP 3.5LT V6 HYBRID | $159,300 MSRP
Audi R8 V10 Quattro S Tronic | 532HP 5.2LT V10 | $164,900 MSRP
McLaren 570S | 562HP 3.8LT V8 | $188,600 MSRP
Mercedes-AMG GT R | 577HP 4.0LT V8 | $157,000 MSRP
Porsche 911 Turbo | 540HP 3.8LT FLAT6 | $161,800 MSRP

Really does put into perspective the value that consumers would be getting in a $100k C8. I think its a safe bet that even in the base model it should still more than 500hp on tap.

The NSX continues to struggle with sales and Audi has already indicated that the R8 is on its way out. I highly doubt that anyone will be cross shopping the C8 with any kind of McLaren.

The cost of upkeep will probably also be vastly different between the C8 and some of these other high performance models that I've mentioned. I think that's what makes the new vet so appealing to those in the market for a hyper car.

Corvettes have long been one of the best high performance cars for the money, especially when you look at it on a horsepower per dollar basis. Cant wait to see some head to head tests once we finally get to see the production C8.

If there is a 1,000hp model and it comes equipped with the rumored AWD system, its going to be a serious challenger for any current super car. Even the base model is looking to have comparable specs to the top end variants of these mentioned competitors.

Everything is just speculation at this point, and I think it may be more difficult that we think for GM to deliver the C8 at $100k for the entry model. If they undercut rivals by too much, they are not only missing out on revenue, but it also speaks to the quality of parts that have been used.

pricing close to $100k to start should mean a C8 with similar performance to the Dodge Viper which to me sounds very good
GM will need some mass market trim to help sustain sales and give rise to other high performing trims

While the Viper did deliver excellent power for the money, its value proposition wasn't enough to prevent Dodge from discontinuing it. 2017 models started for less than $95k but sales continued to dwindle in its later years.

Companies that follow the same model have rarely seen outstanding success; Acura, Lexus, etc. When they have, its brands that already established themselves well.
Prime example is the Nissan GT-R, one of the most iconic performance cars of our time.
