C8 has been delayed 6 months

There are a bunch of articles popping up that report the C8 will no longer be coming to the Detroit Auto Show. Apparently engineers have discovered a major electric issue and the current electric system will have to be completely reconfigured. This probably means we wont see the C8 until the second half of 2019 now. Mid-Engined C8 Chevrolet Corvette Delayed 6 Months Over Electrical Issue: Report - The Drive

Better for them to discover these kinds of issues during development and road testing then after launch. A delay but better quality product brought to market is better for everyone.

I agree. Would rather GM takes the due diligence to ensure this model lives up to expectations and not have the launch muddled by unforeseen issues. It does seem odd that such a significant problem only just recently came to light. They've been building cars for a century.

I heard that Ford outsourced development of the Ford GT to better avoid issues like this, so far Multimatic has proven to live up to those expectations compared to other vehicles.

It might only have come up during more rigorous road/track testing. We saw issues pop up on the Z06 after owners took it for a few hard laps around a closed course.

However they discovered it, it must be a pretty complex issue for them to have to redo the entire electrical loom. Lets just hope that 6 months is enough time to correct it.

Lets hope that they don't have to start changing out other components in an effort to get the electrical system running more smoothly. The C8 needs to be just as capable on the track as it is on the street.

Often car makers have mules being tested for millions of miles before the public gets them. I'll be looking out for those numbers and their findings.

Perhaps the cars computer wasn't throwing any error codes and it was something that they luckily discovered on their own. I don't believe they have begun production, so at least they wont have to be going back and doing a retrofix.

No, these like many other prototypes and pre-production models are built by hand in small production style.
Whats done is so much based around testing that once production starts, those prototypes and pre-production models get sent to the crusher
