Ao my neighbor works at a GM plant that produces some of the body panels for the current C7 and have received the programs for the C8. After starting to make some of the wheel wells for the C8 all production has stopped because the current test cars have been TWISTING the frames to the point that the window over the mid-engine has been cracking on the car. Has anyone else heard anything from GM on this? Thanks

Not sure if there has been any official confirmation of this issue from GM, but we touched on these reports in another thread here. Sounds like they are still fairly early in the R&D phase with the C8.

Its unlikely that we will see the C8 prior to 2020 with all the issues GM has been having. The last thing they will want to do is end C7 production and replace it with something problematic. Going to a mid engine layout is a huge undertaking and there is a reason why only a select few automakers have even attempted it.

We should keep our eyes peeled for what they have on the motorsports end.
The C8 GT3 car is already being used and will be to a larger extend probably well before road going models. So we should be seeing a lot of it.
