How Untunable is the C8 Corvette?

The C8 will be very untunable thanks to an encrypted ECU which to folks like me who want more power, makes this a deal breaker initially till someone cracks it like the Nissan GT-R.

Quote:
A report out of Muscle Cars & Trucks claims that all new C8 Corvette models will feature a unique encrypted ECU system which apparently means tuning and re-programming the ECU could almost be impossible.

Unnamed sources assert that the encrypted ECU of the C8 will make it extremely difficult to read, write, and/or replace. Tuning companies could still of course fit mechanical modifications to the C8’s powertrain but without the ability to tune or replace the ECU to make the most of these upgrades, any alterations would be rendered virtually useless.

Can't wait to see what a "cracked" C8 ECU would allow.

Nissan raise the bar a lot and i'm not sure if GM can live up to that. No other automaker has if you don't count McLaren, Lamborghini, etc.
My biggest fear would be exposing tolerances that show how weak the C8 is versus other supercars.

I will be looking out for HP Tuners.
They worked wonders on the C7 and should hopefully pull through on C8's.

If the C8 still looks as ugly as it does in spy shots then we might see less tuners get involved due to the lack of demand I fear.
